Wright State University issued the following announcement on Feb 24.

Dozens of high school and college students explored health care programs and careers during Wright State University’s 17th annual Path to Health Professions Day.

Hosted by the Pre-Professional Health Program in the College of Science and Mathematics, the event was held on Feb. 21 in various meeting rooms in the Student Union.

Path to Health Professions Day provided information to students about getting on the right path to becoming a doctor or health professional in another field. The program featured informational sessions with subject-matter experts who provided students with an overview of their journey to health professional school and insights into the practitioners’ daily lives.

“Sometimes students have an idea what they want to do, but they don’t hear from the subject matter experts until late so it’s really giving them that roadmap and direction,” said Rob Cowles, coordinator of the Pre-Professional Health Program.

Path to Health Professions Day attracted high school, local college students and current Wright State students interested in helping others through a career in health care. Family members and friends were also welcome.

“We’ve gotten a lot out of it today,” said Stephanie Noland, who attended Path to Health Professions Day with her daughter.

Students enrolled in other colleges also learned more about transferring to Wright State.
